Jasprit Bumrah recorded his career-best figures of 6 for 33 on Day three of the ongoing third Test between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Friday.

After India declared at 433 for 7 on Day 2, Bumrah's brilliant effort helped India bundle out Australia for a mere total of 151 and earned them a healthy lead.

As the Indian team walked off the field during innings break, in an incredible gesture, Indian skipper Virat Kohli doffed his hat to Bumrah for his fantastic show with the ball.

"Shot of the day, you reckon? Boom gets a royal acknowledgment from #KingKohli," the BCCI tweeted the picture on their official Twitter account.

Speaking in the press conference after stumps of Day three, Bumrah said his Ranji Trophy experience of getting the reverse swing on slower pitches in First- Class cricket helped him get the best out of a docile MCG track.

"When I was bowling there, the wicket had become really slow and the ball had become soft... I tried to bowl a slower one, a fuller slow ball. Maybe it will dip or go to short cover. It worked because the ball had started reversing," Bumrah said on Friday.

"When we play on similar wickets back home, the ball reverses. So you try to make the most of it. We were trying to use our experience in First-Class cricket where we have bowled with reverse-swinging balls. That was the plan," the pacer added.
