Team India have had a similar start to England's after winning the toss as the opposition made the most after losing the toss. India stitched an opening partnership of 126 runs at Lord's after England won the toss and chose to bowl first and England had India 21-3 after the tourists won the toss and chose to bat first at Headingley in the third Test.

James Anderson got rid of KL Rahul in the first over on a fuller-length delivery, just outside the off-stump. Anderson set the Indian opener with inswinging deliveries and got him to edge on the one that shaped away just a touch and Rahul, who has been in a splendid form couldn't resist going for his shot and was caught behind by the wicket-keeper Jos Buttler.

A few overs later, Anderson induced something similar with Cheteshwar Pujara. He bowled inswingers to Pujara for an over and had completely set him up for making a mistake and he did on the first ball of his third over as he edged it straight into Buttler's gloves and India were in a spot of bother at 4-2.

Skipper Virat Kohli and opening batsman Rohit Sharma then kept the England bowlers at bay for a while, putting the bad balls to the boundary and leaving the ones in the channel of uncertainty. However, Anderson was able to produce another bit of magic as he got the ball to shape away ever so slightly and got Kohli to play the ball, straight into the hands of Buttler - giving his third catch of the match and Anderson his thrid wicket.

Anderson, who was in the news for all the wrong reasons in the second Test and the period after that put all that behind and did what he does best - make the ball do the talking.

Earlier, skipper Virat Kohli had won the toss (his first in 9 Tests as captain in England) and decided to have a crack with the bat first and went with an unchanged playing XI, while England made two changes with batsman Dawid Malan and all-rounder Craig Overton coming in for Dom Sibley and Mark Wood.
