Melbourne Renegades skipper Aaron Finch will go on a much-needed short break and will miss his side's next game, as confirmed by the head coach Michael Klinger.

Finch has been away from home since August for England tour followed by IPL and the recently concluded India's limited-overs series.

Since, the Renegades play only one game in these few days till Christmas, Renegades will miss their explosive opener in the game against the Hobart Hurricanes.

The men in red will have to leave the memories of their last game behind where they were routed by the Sydney Sixers to hand the biggest ever defeat in the Big Bash League (BBL) history.

Although Renegades will miss Finch's services, they will be delighted to see the back of the likes of Mohammad Nabi, Noor Ahmad, who will be available after serving their mandatory 14-day quarantine period, while Will Sutherland comes back from his stint with Australia A.

"We're going to give him a break now and then (he can) come back ready and charging for our last 11 games and finals hopefully," Klinger said about Finch on Sunday.

In their attempt to achieve the Bash Boost point after being on 25/4, Renegades folded for 60 all out, as they lost the game by 145 runs. Due to which, their NRR took a massive dent (-3.142).

Defending the decision, Klinger said, "After that start, as you would have seen, our tactics were to try and get that bonus point.

"It kept getting worse after that, it was a bit of a train wreck.

"The discussion was 'Is a point more important, or net run-rate?' Obviously we didn't get either. If we were one, two down we could have taken the game deep."
