Spanish brand Zara sells lungi-like skirt for Rs 4,990

Spain based popular luxury clothing brand Zara has always been experimental with its designer clothes. And with the latest addition to its collection, Zara has now come up with a skirt which has an uncanny resembalance to Indian lungi. 

Lungi is a traditional Indian garment worn around the waist and is quite popular in the Asian countries like Bangladesh, Pakistan, Somaliland, Nepal, Cambodia, Djibouti, Myanmar and Thailand. 

It is particularly popular in regions where the heat and humidity create an unpleasant climate for trousers. But now, the Spanish brand is all set to give it a global appeal. 

Zara on its website described the lungi-like skirt as a 'flowing skirt with draped detail in the front' featuring 'front slit detail at the hem' and 'zip fastening in the back hidden along the seam'.

The skirt on the website costs around Rs 4,990, while the lungi in India sells at the starting price of Rs 90.

Last year in October, Zara launched its online website to push sales in India. The country became its 46th market globally to have a Zara website. The e-commerce portal allows customers to make online purchases and have the option of picking it up from a Zara store or get the garments home delivered at a cost. 

Zara had tied up with a third-party operated warehouse located close to New Delhi for stocking, handling and delivery of its garments across the country.

Owned by the Inditex Group, which is one of the world's largest fashion retailers, the integrated offline-online store model sees Zara offer the full range of articles currently available in its stores. 

The garments sold online will also carry same prices as offline stores.

For home delivery, Zara had partnered with three logistics service providers. Deliveries will be done between two and four working days across cities like Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
