“It is vital to be constantly learning and educating oneself in the stock and financial markets. It’s a skill that not many people have, and starting as early as you can only means being closer to achieving your financial freedom”, says Timothy Luong. Practice Mindfulness
Try to fully live the moment in which you are present. Savor the details of the surrounding reality, enjoy them: the color of the leaves, the texture of the grass and sky, the chirping of birds. Learn to appreciate little things, to more widely perceive reality, its sounds, and sensations. How focused are you at this moment? If you can stay fully focused for a few minutes, this is a good result.
If not, try clearing your mind of all the noise and chatter that usually distracts you. Imagine blowing away extraneous thoughts like dust from the spine of a book. Practicing mindfulness in your overall life shall grant you the correct psychological disposition for conducting any business, especially in trading.
“If you don’t believe in yourself then no one else will. Mindset is key because most things are within your reach. The problem is thinking they are not. If you can change your mindset and convince yourself that you can do anything, then you can”, Timothy tells us.
Embrace Your Failures
While it's okay to be wrong, and it happens to even the best, failure leaves an unpleasant aftertaste. In the event of failure, a gamut of negative emotions can overtake us: pain, resentment, anger, disappointment.
Tell yourself that you no longer want to experience these emotions. Remember the emotional hole that failure has plunged you into, and multiply your efforts tenfold so as not to come back to frustration. Surprisingly, these negative memories can become a stimulus and a call to action.
Timothy Luong believes that one is defined by not only their successes but also their failures. And although he has found his place in the sun, becoming founder and CEO of his very own trading education start-up, Timothy encountered plenty of failures on the road to get where he is today. What was significant about these experiences is that none of those failures defined him, and they all served powerful lessons for the opportunity that followed.
