7th pay commission: Modi government brought cheer to around 50 lakh employees by increasing 2 per cent dearness allowance under seventh pay commission. Now, employees under 7th CPC will get 9 per cent DA in their salary. The proposal has been approved in a cabinet meeting on Wednesday. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that DA has been calculated based on employee's basic salary.
The new DA will be implemented from July 1, 2018.
Meanwhile, a certain section of employees in Bihar got a reason to cheer. A section of teachers was planning to go on strike over their various demands including implementation of 7th Pay Commission as soon as possible. However, paying heed to their demands, Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Modi has said that the state government has constituted a 3 member pay committee to look into the matter.
Modi also assured that both the teaching and non-teaching staff would get the revised pay as per the recommendations of the 7th pay commission.
HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar also said that the ministry's budget was increased to Rs 1.10 lakh crore in 2018-19 from Rs 63,000 crore in 2013-14, an increase of 70 per cent. The minister assured that money would be no bar if Patna University submits a proposal for its overall development.
Also, with Arun Jaitley back as Union Finance Minister, the Central Government employees, who have been waiting for a hike in minimum pay beyond the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, see a ray of hope.
If reports are to be believed discussions regarding hiking the minimum pay under 7th CPC for central government employees were held with Piyush Goyal at the helm in Arun Jaitley's absence. The officials held talks, but no concrete decision was taken.
Around 50 lakh central government employees are waiting for the hike. However, Minister of State for Finance, P. Radhakrishnan, had cleared earlier that currently, the government has no plans to increase the minimum salary beyond the seventh pay recommendations.
At present, the Central government employees are getting basic pay according to the fitment formula of 2.57 of the basic pay. Employees are demanding the minimum pay hike of Rs 26,000 instead of Rs 18,000, what seventh pay commission has recommended.
