'Student Of The Year 2' Box Office Report Day 1: Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday, Tara Sutaria's film mints Rs 12.06 crore

Tiger Shroff's one of the most awaited films, Student of the Year 2 finally hit the screens on Friday. The film marks the Bollywood debut of the leading ladies Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria. The light-hearted film is a sequel to Karan Johar's directorial Student of the Year which released in 2012. Though SOTY 2 is receiving mixed reviews from the fans and critics, it managed to get an occupancy rate of about 20 to 25%.

Now, Student of the Year 2 has made a decent opening of Rs 12.06 crore on its opening day. As per the budget of the film, it has got a good start. But if compared Tiger's last movie Baaghi 2, SOTY 2 has no comparison at all as the action-packed film raked Rs 25 crore on the release day. This is director Punit Malhotra's third directorial after I Hate Luv Storys and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein.

But, SOTY 2 has got a better opening than SOTY which had about Rs 7.52 crore on the first Friday.

Earlier during an interaction with PTI, Tiger spoke about SOTY 2 stating, "Student of the Year 2 is the most different film I've ever done till date. It's a different world, it's a different me. Working on this one was like being stripped off of my powers. So, if someone will punch me, I'll bleed. I like the fact that the film has humanised me. He's a normal college going boy, he is not a one-man army. He's not someone who is fighting for the nation or saving someone. He is sort of saving himself. It was refreshing."
