Sonam Kapoor is married to ‘Bhane’ owner, Anand Ahuja. The two tied the knot in May 2018. In a recent interview, Sonam revealed that she is thankful to god for not having married someone from Bollywood.

While speaking to Vogue India, Sonam praised her husband and called him ‘like-minded and a feminist’. She also said the film industry is ‘very limited’ and is all about itself.

“I’m really fortunate to have met somebody who is like-minded and a feminist,” she said adding, “Thank god I didn’t meet somebody who is from the same industry as me because their worldview can be very limited. It’s all about what’s happening in Bollywood.”

When asked if anything has surprised her, she said, “This is the first year that we’ve spent every night together. Usually, we travel so much. I’ve realised that we’re obsessed with each other and we have a lot of fun together.”

Sonam and Anand have been dividing their time between their houses in New Delhi and London. She said that even though living abroad gives her slight anonymity, brown people recognise her.

“We’re often recognised together because we’re constantly holding hands. As brown people, we’re everywhere. I was in Scotland and there were Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and Middle Eastern people everywhere, and they’re all obsessed with Bollywood.”

Even with the prevalence of masks, it’s her voice that gives away. She added, “People are like, ‘Oh, that sounds like awkward Sonam Kapoor.’ I think I sound weird.”

The actress was last seen in 2019 film ‘The Zoya Factor’. Sonam had a cameo role in ‘AK vs AK’ which starred her father, Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap. She will be next seen in ‘Blind’, a remake of a South Korean thriller. Co-produced by Sujoy Ghosh, the movie has been shot in Scotland.
