Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, on the occasion of Independence Day, hoisted the national flag. She shared the video of the same on social media. However, what caught everyone’s attention was the actress wearing shoes while hoisting the flag.

Netizens started trolling her in the comment section for hoisting the flag with her shoes on. One of them wrote, “If you wave the flag of the country, then you are requested to remove the shoes and touch the rope of the flag. Jai Hind Jai Bharat. Happy Independence Day.” The second one said, “You should have removed the shoes of the slippers.” The third person commented, “Madam, who hoists the flag wearing slippers, please don't do this from future.”

The fourth one said, “at least you should take out your footwear, don't you even know this much.” Shilpa also reacted to the trolls and gave befitting reply in the comment box. She wrote, “I am aware of the “Rules” of conduct while hoisting the flag, the RESPECT for my country and THE FLAG stems from my heart and not up for questioning . I am a proud Indian . Today’s post was to share and celebrate that emotion. To all the trollers( that I ignore usually )DO NOT appreciate YOU airing your ignorance and spreading negativity on this Day . So get your facts rights and please BACK OFF.”

Meanwhile, her fans defended the actress. One of her fans wrote, “People who were sleeping during the flag hoisting this morning, got up & chose to lecture the one’s who hoisted the flag. RIP to the logic of people asking @theshilpashetty to not wear footwear while hoisting flag.” The second one said, “Those who are posting so much hate, you have hoisted a big flag that you are giving so much knowledge. I have nothing to do except commenting to others sitting at home. Sometimes do good deeds yourself and also say good things. Stop spreading hate.. spread happiness.”
