'Pagalpanti' Early Box Office Report: John Abraham-Anil Kapoor's film has poor opening

Pagalpanti starring John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Pulkit Samrat, Kriti Kharbanda and Urvashi Rautela in lead roles, released in theatres with a little buzz. The movie was supposed to compete with Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh, Tara Sutaria and Rakul Preet Singh starrer Marjaavaan, which released the previous week.

While Marjaavaan had a good opening, Pagalpanti was barely close to the opening day collections of that film. It is in the 15% range till evening, which is a very poor opening so far considering Pagalpanti was supposed to be in the range of Total Dhamaal and Housefull 4.

In comparison to Marjaavaan, Pagalpanti is a costly affair too. The Box Office situation for Pagalpanti is so bad that even if the movie shows better growth in the evening or on Saturday, it cannot compete with Marjaavaan. This film has target audiences in single screens and multiplexes outside the metro cities.

John Abraham's previous film Romeo Akbar Walter also performed better than Pagalpanti. RAW performed better in the evening and Pagalpanti could compete with that film only if the movie performs better by evening.

Pagalpanti is currently facing competition not only from Marjaavaan, but also Housefull 4. It now awaits to be seen whether this movie can keep working at the Box Office despite the low opening numbers.
