Kabir Singh, the official remake of Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey starrer Arjun Reddy, has been receiving a lot of backlash from the internet. The movie has been termed misogynystic and glorifying male ego. In fact a doctor was even disappointed with the way a surgeon has been shown as a victim to substance abuse.

Early on Wednesday morning, a Censor board member Vani Tripathi Tikoo called Kabir Singh 'terribly misogynistic and extremely violent'. If that was not enough, she questioned Shahid Kapoor by tweeting, "I find it baffling that "Big Stars" make these choices who actually lead by Example! As the Cinematic journey of the country has gone beyond its 'Traditional' Women as 'Eye Candy' routine. Can we remember how movie characters are idolised?"

She also added, "Someone asked me after my last post what's wrong with an Actor choosing a role? Dear pal there is never a wrong or a right it's the choices that you make on screen to portray is what defines who you are! A character is only a piece of written paper if not enlivened by an actor!"

Tikoo is not the first person to question the movie. Previously singer Sona Mohapatra also called Shahid Kapoor irresponsible for his choice. Now Shahid's brother Ishaan Khatter has jumped in to defend his elder brother. He was all praises for Shahid's performance.

"As happy as can be for my big brother today who’s always been a shining example of a human being for me. Not a doubt in the world that you deserve the smashing success but it continues to baffle me how you were able to play one of the most complex, lost and damaged characters with such perfection while returning home to being the most centered, loving and responsible family man I know. Thank you for showing me what it means to be a responsible son, father, husband and brother always AND for knocking me out with your performance in and as #KabirSingh," wrote the actor who made his Bollywood debut with Dhadak last year.

Further when Ishaan was told it is a 'sweet justification for misogyny', he replied, "no, actually it's quite the opposite. It's an appreciation post for a gem of a human being and an actor par excellence. As for your read on *the film*, it's cinema. Everybody should have an opinion. I don't agree with yours. But that's a conversation for another day :) enjoy your day!"

Arjun Reddy was a Telugu blockbuster when it released in 2017. The movie also faced some criticisms, but has come further in limelight after Kabir Singh release. Interestingly both Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh have been directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
