Deepika, Priyanka and Kangana amp up their fashion quotient at Cannes Film Festival 2019
When Ranveer Singh wrote ‘Killllllling it haaaaaaan’ on one of wife Deepika Padukone’s Cannes 2019 looks, we couldn’t agree more with the Gully Boy actor. Not just DP but even Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Kangana Ranaut made heads turn at the ongoing 72nd Cannes Film Festival, which is taking place in France. The Indian beauties at the festival have managed to make everyone sit up and take notice of their glammed up avatars. Whether it’s PCJ’s stunning black-and-red Roberto Cavalli couture gradient gown ensemble or the edgy Nedret Taciroglu pant suit worn by Kangana, or Dippy’s blue-and-white striped pant suit and orange pumps, the three desi divas are nailing their looks, giving any of the international stunners a run for their money.

For Nachiket Barve, the Cannes Film festival, coming on the heels of the Met Gala, has been all about high-impact dressing so far.
“Nobody’s really playing it safe, and everyone’s amping it up. Whether the vibe is India fusion like Kangana’s corset sari or the lime green Giambattista Valli gown that Deepika wore, there is a sense of everything being maxed out,” he says. For the designer, what’s stood out as far as Deepika’s look is concerned, is the Peter Dundas cream gown with the big bow in the front, long slit, plunging neckline and exaggerated sleeves. “It’s not a silhouette that everyone can pull off. But her statuesque posture, exaggerated eye make-up and big pony finished beautifully to carry off such a risky dress and she did complete justice to it.” he said. As for PCJ, he liked her white pleated jumpsuit the most.
“It had the French Riviera vibe and was effortless chic. Kangana’s corset sari was an interesting statement. It represented India in a very Grace Kelly-meets-Gayatri Devi sort of fusion way, with the gloves, the diamonds and that very ’50s movie star sunglasses and all. It was put together to convey a persona which was interesting to watch,” he concluded.
