The teaser of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming gangster drama Animal was released on September 28, the birthday of the film’s lead actor Ranbir Kapoor. The film, which also stars Anil Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, is a violent action thriller and sees Ranbir in a new avatar. The teaser was praised by fans for the intrigue it created and some of the action set pieces it teased.

The teaser opens with Ranbir and Rashmika, dressed in traditional, discussing if they want children. We then get a flashback of a young Ranbir being slapped mercilessly by his father – Anil Kapoor. His father calls him a criminal and other members of his family think he is a spoilt brat born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

This follows Ranbir in a bearded look walking with men with guns and preparing for what appears to be a war. We see a shot of an injured Ranbir lying on the ground with bullet shells around him. In a voiceover, he says, “Papa, this is just the beginning. There is a lot to be done. I have to meet him, kill him. Don’t be disappointed.” The teaser comes to a close with the tease of what appears to be a battle with several large SUVs waiting for something on a tarmac. We then see a beefed up Bobby Deol, shirtless appear with a knife in hand, the obvious target of our hero’s hatred.

Reacting to the trailer, one fan wrote, “Animal will showcase that why Ranbir is considered one of the best actors in the industry.” Another predicted that the film will be ‘another blockbuster from Bollywood’. There were a lot of fans of the background score and Bobby Deol’s brief appearance as well.

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga of Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy-fame, the film is produced by Bhushan Kumar under the T-Series banner. It is scheduled to be released in theatres on December 1.
