Finally! The wait is over and the much anticipated 2.0 trailer starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in the leads is out. Going by the looks of it, the trailer highlights the age old story of good vs evil in a technological packaging and tonns of visual effects which may resonate with today's tech-savvy generation.
The 2 minutes 06 seconds long traier of 2.0, which is a sequel to Rajinikanth, Danny Denzongpa and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer 2010 hit Robot (Enthiran), begins with giving us a glimpse of how the latest technological advancements have connected us with others and has always been at our constant service. Then the message suddenly takes a turn and tells us that this year, the same technology that served us for so long, will now target us. Simultaneously, we see how initially people used their cell phones for their everyday needs, clicking selfies, calling their loved ones etc but when each and every cell phone starts disappearing, it becomes a matter of grave concern.
This is when we get the first glimpse of Akshay Kumar in the trailer, in a body which is an agglomeration of mobile phones. "Cell Phone rakhne wala har ek vyakti hatyara hai," he says in a threatening voice. To overcome and battle this fourth super-human force, a super power must reboot and return in its 2.0 version to save the humankind. Enter Rajinikanth as Chitti - the Robot, only this time he's reloaded in version 2.0. The rest of the trailer gives us glimpses of what to expect (read VFX) in this epic battle of good vs evil (read more VFX).
Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar both seem pretty good in their elements. It's delightful to see Akshay nailing his part as the antagonist to Rajinikanth's Chitti. Amy Jackson seems to have a guest appearance in the trailer as she gets barely three shots and we sincerely hope that's not the case in the film. The background score too seems to be impressive. However, what lets us down is the VFX, especially when we know that a whopping sum of about Rs 650 crore has been spent in making the film visually appealing.

We had sky-rocketting expectations from Shankar, especially after watching the teaser and we do laud his vision. We expected to be amazed and wanted to fall-short-of-words on watching the much awaited trailer of 2.0, but sigh! That did not happen. The battle scenes, glimpses of which can be seen in the second half of the trailer, seem to be the ones to watch out for in the film. However, in the trailer the do appear a bit underwhelming to us.
2.0 the move is produced by Subaskaran, written and directed by S.Shankar and is slated to hit the theatres on November 29 this year. The film is presented by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions in Hindi.
