90s heartthrob Rahul Roy suffered brain stroke while shooting for a project in Kargil, and is currently hospitalised in Mumbai. The actor, most popular for his role in 'Aashiqui', is currently hospitalized in Mumbai's Nanavati hospital. He is kept in ICU where the doctors are currently observing his condition.
Who is Rahul Roy?
Rahul Roy was born on February 9, 1968, and started his acting career with the 1990 blockbuster Aashiqui, produced by Mahesh Bhatt. He also worked with Karishma Kapoor in Sudhakar Bokade's romantic film Sapne Sajan Ke in 1992.
Roy has been honoured with life membership of the International Film And Television Club of the Asian Academy of Film & Television. In 2006, he also participated and won the first season of the game show Bigg Boss – the Indian version of Celebrity Big Brother.
Later, his production company, Rahul Roy Productions, released its first movie, entitled Elaan, on 25 November 2011 in Bihar starring him and Rituparna Sen as the main leads.
Roy's maternal uncle is Cory Walia, a renowned name in the industry and on the fashion circuit. Speaking about his personal life, Roy was married to Rajlakshmi Khanvilkar (Rani), a fashion model, who had been previously married to Samir Soni.
Before suffering a brain stroke, the actor was shooting for 'LAC - Live the Battle' in Kargil. The harsh weather reportedly caused the stroke. Rahul was previously admitted to Srinagar and then shifted to Mumbai.
The film stars Bigg Boss 14 contestant and actor Nishant Singh Malkhani in the lead role. During an interaction with ETimes, Nishant revealed what happened to Rahul and also said that he was airlifted from Kargil to Srinagar with the military's help.
Nishant stated, "It all happened on Tuesday. He was alright when we all went to sleep on Monday night. I think the weather got to him, it's extreme conditions out here in Kargil where we are shooting. The temperature is -15 degrees centigrade. I cough blood every day, we are going up and down the mountains now and then and the nose capillaries get torn."
