Are you among those who find it difficult to dispose off or sell scrap and recyclable material? You can now sell it for the right price and at your convenience in Bangalore and you don't even need to take your scrap to a dealer. Instead, a team of trained professionals will pick up the material from your door step.

EnCashea.com, a doorstep free service for collecting all unused stuff from your location, was launched earlier this year in the city. The concept is a brainchild of three IITians - Priyank Jain (IIT, Kharagpur), Harshad Chaudhari (IIT, Madras) and Rahul Jaiswal (IIT, Kanpur).

Speaking with iamin, Priyank Jain, one of the co-founders of EnCashea, “We all stay in high-rise apartments. We found that disposal of scrap material such as old newspapers, plastic and electronic goods has become a difficult task. Another hassle is the timing of the scrap dealers visiting the residential apartments. It is not easy for those working at software companies to be at home when the scrap dealer visits their apartment complex. And if they are at home, there is no guarantee of professionalism and the right means to carry the scrap and recyclable material".

Areas of operations
EnCashea commenced its operations on August 22, 2015 and provides door-to-door service in areas of Marathahalli, Doddanekkundi, Belandur, Hoodi Circle and Kundalahalli. “We have been able to service 200 residential apartments so far in these areas. Recently, we extended our service to CV Raman Nagar too," Jain explains.

Segregation at source
The unique aspect of EnCashea is that its staff educates and explains the importance of segregating waste at source to the consumers. “We even offer incentives to people for segregating scrap and recyclable material at source. Second-level segregation takes place at our warehouse at Mahadevapura. After segregation, we sell the material to people who engage in recycling,’’ he says.

If all goes well, EnCashea aims to expand its service to other parts of Bangalore within a few months. “The efforts are on to expand to other metros in the near future. We are contemplating raising funds from investors,’’ he adds.

Donate scrap for charity
Through EnCashea, consumers can donate the scrap and recyclable material to facilitate education for underprivileged children also. “We also have 'Teach for India', a non-profit organisation working to remove educational inequality, as our charity partner. We have a very transparent process for the customers who want to donate their scrap to charity. We put the list of donors on our website and the same goes to our charity partner with the name, apartment name and amount donated by the donors," he says.
