The BJP government in Gujarat has received 18,000-odd objection applications from farmers against the latest survey of land across the state. The unrest created among the farmers by the faulty survey has pushed Chief Minister Vijay Rupani to form a committee of four senior ministers to address the grievances of land holders and farmers.
Revenue Minister Kaushik Patel said, "So far, we have received some 18,000 applications in which land holders have mentioned that they were not satisfied with the land survey. The CM has formed a committee under the chairmanship of Deputy CM Nitin Patel to address grievances and complaints regarding the land survey." Aside from the deputy CM, the committee comprises the revenue minister Kaushik Patel, senior ministers Bhupendrasinh Chudasama and Saurabh Patel. These ministers would go through all these complaints and then decide the course of action to provide solutions for the issues of the farmers.
This was the fourth time that the state government conducted the survey of land according to the registered land holders in the state based on land extracts. The government appointed different agencies which used technologies such as satellite mapping, global positioning system (GPS) and other mathematical systems; however they have so far failed. In this latest attempt, the government gave the contract of land re-survey to a Hyderabad-based agency at an expense of around Rs 300 crore.
"It is premature to say that the re-survey of land was faulty but we will not promulgate the records finally until all the complaints are disposed. We will make sure that no one is meted out injustice. We will also fine the surveying agencies, if they have made any mistakes."
Meanwhile, Ahmedabad collector Vikrant Pandey has announced that the orders of corrected documents post promulgation would start from August 16.
