Gujarat: Cops nab one more in Mehsana Dalit attack case

The police had formed 14 teams to trace the accused persons, who were missing since the video of the thrashing went viral.

The Mehsana police arrested one more accused, who was allegedly involved in thrashing a Dalit teen on June 13. Till now, the cops have nabbed three. However, one accused continues to elude the cops.

The police had formed 14 teams to trace the accused persons, who were missing since the video of the thrashing went viral. Two of the accused identified as Jaydeep Darbar and Chahersinh Solanki were nabbed on June 16 by Mehsana police from Banaskant.

During interrogations, they revealed the location of the third boy, who is minor. Acting on the information, the police nabbed the boy, who was hiding at his relative's place in Banaskant. He was later sent to the Juvenile court.

Chaitanya Mandlik, SP of Mehsana, said: "We have nabbed three of the accused, while search for the fourth is on. We have assigned teams to find him and he will soon be nabbed. We believe that the boy and his family have left the state."

The incident took place on June 13, in Becharaji town of Gujarat's Mehsana district. Mukesh Rathod (name changed), 13, was abused and assaulted by four people for allegedly wearing mojdis and calling himself a darbar. A video of it went viral on social media the following day. A case was later registered at Becharaji police station against the four accused.
