Accused in drug case had used fake passport, visa

The man nabbed with narcotics worth Rs 6 crore from Kalupur railway station, who had identified himself as a Kenya national is, in fact, a Nigerian. Investigation has revealed he had a fake passport and visa. It has also emerged he had lied about supplying drugs to New Zealand through speed post or courier. 

On Tuesday, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had arrested the man, identified as John William Best, 33, with 700 gm amphetamine and 587 gm cocaine from the Delhi Sarai Rohila-Bandra Garib Rath train when it halted at the city railway station.  

During interrogation, he told police officials he was a Kenyan and he was headed to Mumbai to supply drugs for payment of $100. He was also assigned to courier a consignment to New Zealand through speed post. However, investigation has revealed he is a Nigerian and he was supposed to deliver the drugs only to Mumbai for local consumption. It was also revealed that two other Nigerian nationals, who were earlier nabbed by NCB officials from Mumbai and Vadodara railway station, were part of the same drug chain. Officials suspect the involvement of more people, including Indians.

Hari Om Gandhi, zonal director of NCB, said, “The Delhi NCB has started investigation regarding the matter in Delhi as the supply of drugs happened from there”. 

 “We have got to know the accused were delivering drugs with a gap of 10 days between each delivery. Further investigation will reveal more about the case.”
