Samsung's new Gear S2 smartwatch will have a circular face and rotating bezel control

Samsung has officially announced the newest version of its smartwatch, the Gear S2, and it's coming to us in three version: the S2, S2 Classic, and S2 3G.

The S2 has options for either a brushed aluminium or a dark grey watch body, with silicone bands, while the Classic comes with a black body, ridged bezel and black leather straps. All three versions have a 1.2-inch (360x360) display at 302ppi, 4GB storage, 512MB RAM, and run on an unspecified version of Tizen OS, with the Bluetooth version running a 1GHz Exynos 3250  dual-core processor. The 3G S2 meanwhile has the option to input a 3G SIM card, runs on a dual-core 1GHz Snapdragon 400 MSM8226 processor, and has a 300mAh battery instead of 250. All three versions have a Home and Back button on the right side, and the bezel rotates to select options on screen.

One can only wonder why Samsung is stuffing the old-generation Snapdragon 400 into its smartwatch instead of the 410, which has better power optimisation? A price cutting mechanism after Samsung burned its fingers with it last smartwatch attempts? Who knows?
