'Khatarnaak': Neeraj Chopra impressed by Sumit Antil's gold medal win at Tokyo Paralympics 2020

India had a glorious day at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020 as two athletes helped the team bag gold. Not just that, some even shattered world records in the process of clinching the medal.

Sumit Antil not only won the gold medal in javelin throw but also shattered the world record, not once but thrice in the F64 event on Monday. 

Antil's record-breaking performance gave India its second gold after 19-year-old Avani Lekhara had won it in the women's 10m Air Rifle Standing (SH1) event.

Soon after India won the gold, javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, India's first Olympic gold medallist summed up Sumit's stunning display calling it a "khatarnak" performance.

Summit broke the world record with his very first throw of 66.95m. He bettered that mark with a throw of 68.08m. In his next two throws, Sumit threw 65.27 and 66.91m, which meant three of his four throws were gold-medal-winning throws. 

However, the Indian wasn't done yet and went on to produce a gargantuan throw of 68.55 in his fifth attempt to break his own record. 

Sumit's final throw was a foul attempt but that didn't matter as the man had already his name on the gold medal. The silver medal went to Australia's Michal Burian and the bronze to Sri Lanka's Kodithuwakku.
