In a remarkable display of skill and endurance, India's Rohan Bopanna etched his name into the record books at the US Open. On Thursday, he and his partner, Matthew Ebden of Australia, reached the men's doubles final, making Bopanna the oldest male player to achieve this feat in Grand Slam history. Their impressive journey unfolded at the Louis Armstrong Stadium, where the sixth-seeded duo of Bopanna and Ebden triumphed over the French pair of Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut with a scoreline of 7-6 (3), 6-2, in a semifinal clash lasting 1 hour and 34 minutes.

Bopanna, at the age of 43 years and 6 months, continues to defy the constraints of age, securing his place in the US Open men's doubles final. This remarkable achievement surpasses the previous record held by Daniel Nestor of Canada, who had reached the same milestone at the age of 43 years and 4 months. Currently ranked 14th in the world in doubles, Bopanna's legacy in the sport is undeniably illustrious.

This marks the second time that Bopanna has graced the men's doubles final at the US Open, his previous appearance dating back to 2010 when he partnered with Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi. Bopanna, boasting an impressive career with 24 titles to his name, carries a win-loss record of 482–359 (57.3%) in ATP World Tour and Grand Slam main-draw matches, along with contributions to the Davis Cup.

Looking ahead, Bopanna and Matthew Ebden will vie for the championship title, awaiting the outcome of the second semifinal between the third-seeded pair of Andy Ram/Joe Salisbury and second-seeded Ivan Dodig/Austin Krajicek.
Sumit Nagal, India's singles sensation, extended his heartfelt congratulations to Bopanna, recognizing the historic significance of the moment. If Bopanna secures victory at the US Open, he would become the oldest man in the Open era to clinch a Grand Slam title, further cementing his legacy as an inspiration to aspiring tennis professionals in India.

Despite signs of fatigue after the gripping semifinal clash, Bopanna and Ebden remain confident in their form and performance, setting their sights on the coveted US Open title. Their journey is a testament to determination and skill, igniting hope for many aspiring tennis players in India and beyond
