Pimpri-Chinchwad New Township Development Authority (PCNTDA), on Monday, invited bids to appoint a private firm to maintain its ‘Traffic Park’. The private firm will be expected to run, maintain and promote the Traffic Park for a period of three years.
The park in Pimpri-Chinchwad was developed for comprehensive training to drivers of two-wheelers and four-wheelers in a systematic and progressive manner, free from the pedestrian movement.

It has been developed on nearly five acres area with series of single and two-lane, left-side-drive practice tracks which have been raised on gradient and subterranean roads addressing different levels of difficulties and complexities in vehicle control. Through the park, PCNTDA aims to provide world class facility for drivers training.

PCNTDA spokesperson told DNA, “One of the reasons behind the decision was that several industries in Pimpri-Chinchwad have been doing good job for their surroundings and they can help maintain the quality of the Traffic Park.”

He added, “This is the first of its kind project developed with the objective to make people, especially children, aware about traffic rules and discipline. The cost of the project is Rs5.48 crore.”

There are various types of road surfaces at the park which will help drivers hone their driving skills. It also has an administration and maintenance centre along with ample parking space.

Besides, a workshop will conducted nearby which will impart basic knowledge of repairing a vehicle. An information centre has been set up to provide information about traffic safety rules.
Besides, there is also a one-km long jogging track and a cafeteria for the amateur drivers.
