Rains continue to lash Mumbai, trains running 10 minutes late

Intermittent rains continued to lash different parts of the city today.

According to the Meteorological Department, Colaba recorded 21.3 mm of rainfall while Santacruz received 47.1 mm of rainfall from 8.30am yesterday to 8.30 am today.

Trains are running late five to ten minutes, officials said, adding that road traffic was hit to some extent, even though there were no snarls.

"Due to bad weather over Mumbai, a Chennai-Mumbai SpiceJet flight, SG 106, had been diverted to Ahmedabad at 7.35am and landed safely at 10.30am," a Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) spokesperson said.

Complaints of water logging were reported from Andheri subway, officials said, adding that no incidents of house and tree collapse were reported so far.

The weather bureau has forecast frequent spells of rain in parts of city and suburbs over the next 24 hours.
