North Bombay Sarbojanin celebrates 66th Durga Puja

North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja is expecting more than 25,000 devotees at the Durga Puja festivities it has organised in Juhu over the coming week.

Traditionally, many devotees come even from outside the city. Bollywood personalities from the Mukerji family join the puja for Durga Maa and participate in the extravagant celebrations late evening.

This devotion makes the "bhog" an integral part of the programme, with lunch and dinner served for devotees over the five days.

There will be lively performances by popular artistes Usha Uthup, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Javed Ali, Shaan, Monali Thakur and Kavita Krishnamurthy.

This is the 66th year of the Juhu puja and as in previous years the puja will be streamed live on www.northbombaydurgapuja.com.
The trust was founded in 1948 by Shahdhar Mukherjee (of Bombay Talkies), JM Bhadra and their family members together with like-minded people in Santacruz.

Since inception, the association has promoted Bengali culture and awareness, hosting cultural programmes throughout the year and celebrating major Bengali events such as Saraswati Puja, Paila Baishak, Rabindra Jayanti and Durga Puja.

The puja and festivities, organised at Hotel Tulip Star on Vaikunthlal Mehta Road, are open to the public.
The décor, which will have an earthen look, will be prepared from terra cotta.
