Mumbai Cops get CCTV footage quality enhanced to nab man seen with Anuhya at LTT

The police, probing the murder case of 23-year-old software engineer Esther Anuhya, said they have managed to put a ‘clear’ face to the suspicious man seen walking ahead of the young woman at the Kurla railway terminus.

Although the man was seen on cameras installed at the station, his face was not clear as the images were grainy. With the help of cyber experts, the police have enhanced the picture of the suspicious man, by using ‘face-enhancing’ technology.

The man who is well built is seen carrying Anuhya’s luggage in the images from cameras at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Kurla.

Officers of the police’s crime branch said they are optimistic of identifying the man and solving the case with these enhanced images.

Anuhya, who returned from her hometown in Andhra Pradesh, alighted at the station in the wee hours of January 5 after which she went missing. On January 16, Anuhya’s  body was  found at a desolate spot in Bhandup.

“The mysterious man appears to be from South India but we can’t be too very sure of that. We’ve circulated the clear photos across Andhra Pradesh and elsewhere in the country and will soon make them public,” said a crime branch officer.

Meanwhile, officials of the Kurla railway police on Monday have written to the Central Railway authorities to install 100 more closed-circuit cameras on the premises of the station for the safety and security of passengers.

Senior inspector Shivaji Dhumal of Kurla railway police station said that it has come to light that there aren’t enough cameras on platforms and around premises of the terminus. “Besides, the images are blurred, making it difficult to identify people,” said senior inspector Dhumal.
