Mob turns violent in Nashik, damages vehicles, sets two huts ablaze

Two huts were set afire and several vehicles were damaged in Nashik distict of Maharashtra in stone-pelting after an irate mob went on a rampage demanding arrests in connection with the murder of a local social activist.

Two huts were set afire and several vehicles were damaged in Nashik distict of Maharashtra in stone-pelting after an irate mob went on a rampage demanding arrests in connection with the murder of a local social activist, police said.

The incident took in Rokdobawadi and Devlaligaon area where two rival groups had gathered demanding arrests in the murder case of one Bapu Bhalerao, who was killed yesterday following group clashes, they said.

The trouble began after supporters of Bhalerao group damaged vehicles passing from Nashik road, Bhagur and Devlali causing tension in the areas following which panicked businessmen shut their commercial  establishments, police said.

Additional force has been deployed in the area and the situation is now under control, they added.
