If the last few weeks have seen a flurry of endless parties, the fun needn’t stop now. One could still look party-ready. After all, a bit of glint never hurts. Most of us have got back into work mode full throttle and are trying to stick to our yoga resolutions. However, it’s hard not to sense the all-pervading post-holiday blues. While we might want to ditch the in-your-face flash, incorporating a hint of glitter in our separates and accessories isn’t a bad idea. Case in point being Malaika Arora’s recent look when she teamed her sporty separates with a metallic bomber or Esha Gupta’s airport ensemble when she had colour blocked her metallic pleated dress with pale pink accessories.

Michael Kors shine-on pants emit just the right kind of dazzle and Balmain’s fully-beaded blazers can be layered over any neutral ensemble. In terms of accessories, Gucci’s animalistic jewellery pieces will amp up just about any outfit under the sun. Stylist Isha Bhansali suggests skipping jewellery altogether and ditching high heels. “Instead, opt for some fun sneakers and give your ensemble a more relaxed vibe. If it’s a shiny top, wear it with ripped denims and layer up with a grunge jacket. Tone down the sparkle with some earthy cottons or linens,” she says.

BALANCE SHINE WITH NEUTRALS

It’s all about getting the synergy of layering right — clashing the matte with glittery and solids with neons. Designer Ridhi Mehra advises wearing a neutral-hued top with an embellished skirt or a pair of metallic trousers. “You can also let your glamorous shoes or embellished bags do all the talking,” she states.

THE ART OF ACCESSORISING

Let some of the shimmer from the holiday season make its mark on some of your accessories. “Like a pair of sparkly statement flats or a bag with a sheen strap. For those of you bold enough to try something more, a dazzling statement jacket is a must. Pair it with a date night dress or a white tank and jeans. It instantly turns your look around,” says designer Suman B of Lola.
