Rain ready: Dravyavati riverfront braces for monsoon challenge

In its final stage, the Dravyavati riverfront project is expected to face challenge from monsoon rain. The river was rainwater escape for several of the colonies adjoining its length, the water though remains unwelcome this season as the project gears to meet completion deadline by August. 

“The JDC has instructed appointment of two teams and arrangement of equipment for monsoon management at the riverfront project,” said a JDA officer after a review meeting of the project on Thursday. 

Special measures have also been taken to ensure that the rainwater from colonies do not enter the riverfront area. The efforts will also rely on development of sewerage management facilities in these colonies. The JDA and contractor firm developing the project have nearly two months to achieve the task. 

The authority is counting on timely completion of the five sewerage plants being developed as part of the riverfront. Although the work is little late, it is expected to be completed by June first week. 

Meanwhile, there are few encroachments and legal cases that are still obstructing the river track. The issue was also raised at the review meeting following which officials concerned were asked to remove the encroachments and seek disposal of court cases by the Jaipur development commissioner. 

Date extended

Last date of application for the JDA schemes of Uday Vihar, Sury Nagar (Block A) and Abinav Vihar have been extended till May 05, 2018. The authority on March 20, has invited applications for allotment of 1247 plots at the three schemes, the last date of accepting applications was April 20, which has been extended. A lower turnout of aspiring applicants is being considered reason for the deadline extension. 

Illegal colony

JDA enforcement team on Thursday uprooted gravel roads and demolished walls being constructed near Kalwar Road at Zone 12. According to the officials, the construction works were being held with intention to develop an illegal colony on nearly 4 bighas of land near. The enforcement team during the day also demolished a house and walls constructed at Indira Colony despite stay orders of court.
