Schools in Jaipur would reopen on revised timings after winter vacations today. Due to the prevailing cold wave in Jaipur and several other parts of the state, district collector  Jagroop Singh Yadav issued directions that schools cannot open before 10 am. The instructions have to be followed by both government-run schools and private schools in the city.

Parts of Rajasthan have been experiencing cold wave conditions since last one week. Minimum temperatures plumetted to their lowest this season. During the last 24 hours, night temperature recorded a marginal increase across the state and as a result mercury has settled between 4-10 degree Celsius. This temperature zone is  below the normal temperatures recorded in previous years around this time.

According to local MeT office report, Mount Abu remained the coldest place in state on Tuesday. The minimum temperature was recorded at 3 degrees Celsius in Abu, Met officials said. Bhilwara recorded the minimum night temperature at 3.4 degree Celsius followed by Sikar and Churu at 3.5 degree Celsius each.

Minimum temperature at Alwar, Pilani, Chittorgarh, Shriganganagar and Udaipur was recorded ar 3.8, 4.6, 4.6, 5.2 and 5.6 degrees respectively. In Jaipur, minimum the temperature rose up by half a degree and breached the 6-degree mark to stabilise at 6.1 degree Celsius.

According to the weathermen, due to an approaching fresh western disturbance, cold northerly winds are being replaced by relatively warmer winds from south-east direction. As a result minimum temperatures are also expected to increase by one to two degree Celsius over the next 24 hours. This is expected to give some relief to the people in state as the cold wave conditions are expected to subside thereafter in several parts of Northwest India.
