Chief minister Vasundhara Raje’s proposed “Suraj Gaurav Yatra” scheduled to start from April 15 may get postponed. The yatra is likely to take place after May 15. Sources in the party say that the rescheduling of Yatra is due to the Karnataka assembly elections.

“It was discussed to invite BJP chief Amit Shah for the yatra. But due to assembly elections in Karnataka Shah is busy. Even other leaders from Rajasthan including Raje will visit Karnataka during the campaign. Probably, that is the reason why Suraj Gaurav Yatra may be postponed for a month.

The chief minister was planning to start her yatra from Char Bhuja temple as a run up to the assembly elections scheduled in the year-end. Before the last assembly elections when BJP was in opposition, Raje held Suraj Sankalp Yatra which had created atmosphere in favour of BJP.  She had visited all the 200 assembly segments across the state.

On the basis of issues raised during the Suraj Sankalp Yatra, BJP had prepared the election manifesto “Suraj Sankalp Patra” of the assembly election 2013.

Looking at the success of that yatra, the incumbent BJP is planning similar tour to douse the anti incumbency before the elections.

The chief minister will formally launch the campaign for assembly elections of the state through this yatra. She is slated to visit all the 200 assembly segments in 80 daysduring which she will strike direct contact with public. She will publicise the work BJP government has undertaken under her leadership.
