Alternate set up being made to handle the ailing in Kota

Amid the ongoing state-wide strike by doctors in the state, health services across the four districts of Kota region have been thrown out of gear. The situation in district hospitals, community health centres and primary health centres in rural areas is worse, however nine doctors from Kota medical college  have been deployed in government hospitals in Baran and Bundi where under alternative arrangements, they are tackling the patients along with AYUSH doctors.

“The situation is very difficult to handle as 250 residents, 60 senior residents and 17 medical officers who were extending services are on strike,” said Dr PK Tiwari, superintendent, MBS Hospital, Kota. As alternative arrangement, teachers, faculties and non teaching staff from Kota Medical College have been deployed to handle the patients, he said adding that surgeries have been suspended and only emergency cases are being treated.

The medical and health services are not so adversely affected in Medical college as they are in district hospitals and at CHCs and PHCs in rural areas, said Dr Devendra Vijayvergiya, superintendent, Kota medical college.

The CM said to have convinced the union petroleum minister that since Rajasthan is going to set up oil refinery and its oil reserves would last for years, it is essential to find new reserves in Jaisalmer and Barmer basins.
