Delhi Capitals are facing some serious issues when it comes to the opening line-up. Shikhar Dhawan has been the only person in form with two centuries but he has had no one to stick with him. Prithvi Shaw has endured a miserable time with the bat, managing scores of 0,0,7,10,9,0 in the last six games. Ajinkya Rahane was also tried as Shikhar Dhawan’s opening partner but that also did not yield much success. The Delhi Capitals opening combination hit rock bottom in Qualifer 1 against Mumbai Indians as three batsmen fell for ducks and they never recovered from that disastrous start to lose by 57 runs.

Now, according to a report by Insidesport, there are plans for Marcus Stoinis to open the batting with Shikhar Dhawan in Qualifier 2 that will be played on November 8 at the Sheikh Zayed stadium in Abu Dhabi. According to the report, Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting has been impressed with the form shown by Marcus Stoinis. The Australian all-rounder has hit three fifties so far and also chipped in a bit with the ball.

With Stoinis at the top, Delhi Capitals could raise their aggression quotient with the left-hand and right-hand combination. Delhi Capitals have lost both their league games to Sunrisers Hyderabad, with the last one by a massive margin of 88 runs.

Woeful playoff record

Delhi Capitals suffered yet another big loss to Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2020 Qualifier 1. Not only was it their third loss to the four-time champions, but they suffered their sixth loss in seven IPL playoff games. However, their one win has come against Sunrisers Hyderabad and that was in IPL 2019 in the Eliminator.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have won four consecutive games and their journey is very similar to the one in IPL 2016 where they had to win five games on the trot to win the title. After being almost down and out, David Warner’s Sunrisers Hyderabad started their resurgence with a big win against Delhi Capitals with the skipper scoring a fifty on his birthday. Sunrisers Hyderabad will be hoping that Wriddhiman Saha is fit for the game tomorrow.
