In a case of ‘love jihad’, a Hindu girl was allegedly forced by the family of the Muslim boy, who married her by faking his identity as a Hindu, to embrace Islam in Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh.
A case has been registered against seven persons including Safraj Hussain (who posed as Raj Vishnoi), his father Izhar Hussain, mother Shakeela, brother Zafar Hussain and three others in connection with forcible conversion.
The SHO Bilaspur Police Station S.P. Singh said that the girl from Bilaspur in Rampur came into contact with the Muslim boy three years ago when she was doing her graduation from a degree college in Moradabad.
The Muslim boy was working at a company Raj Share Marketing just opposite her college. The boy made a few attempts but could not become friendly with her. Then he joined an institute from where she was doing English speaking course. There he introduced himself to the girl as Raj Vishnoi. Soon they developed liking for each other.
To win over the girl, he used to go to temple with her and do the puja etc. In August 2015, he developed physical relations with her on the promise to marry her. When the girl got pregnant and forced him to marry, he took her to Haridwar and solemnized marriage in a temple faking as a Hindu boy.
On return, he left the girl at her house in Rampur with a promise to take her back after taking a house on rent. When he did not return, the girl told her parents about her affair and marriage. They went to Moradabad and the boy accepted their marriage and brought the girl back and started living in a rented house.
The girl caught his lies about his religion when his brother Zafar Hussain visited him when he was not home. But despite that she agreed to stay with him. The boy took her to his parents’ house in February 2017 and did nikah with her with a rider that she would convert to Islam. But the girl refused to accept the condition and threatened to lodge a police case.
“When I refused to change my religion, his family member used to torture me and refused to accept me as their daughter-in-law. One day they called a maulvi and forcibly changed my religion. When I objected I was beaten raped by his brother and others,” she told the police.
After facing torture and repeated rape, the girl somehow managed to run away and reached her home in Rampur to narrate her ordeal. Her parents then lodged an FIR. The boy and his family members have locked the house and absconding since case was lodged against them.
“We have recorded the statement of the girl and sent her for medical examination. Investigations are underway and the accused will be brought to books soon,” said the SHO.
