The Delhi Police on Wednesday filed the chargesheet against Uber cab driver Shiv K Yadav in the Tis Hazari court under charges of rape, abduction, threat to life and several other charges. The court has fixed January 2, 2015 as the date for consideration and scrutiny of chargesheet.

Meanwhile, the accused has also mentioned in the court that he needs a government lawyer. Earlier this month, the Delhi Police had also summoned Uber's Asia-Pacific head Eric Alexander in the wake of alleged rape of a 27-year-old finance executive by the company's driver. The incident of rape by Uber's cab driver resulted in the Delhi Government banning the company from functioning in the national capital, even as the company assured its full co-operation to help the victim and her family in their recovery.

The accused cab driver had earlier been convicted for a similar crime and had spent over seven months in prison. However, he was later acquitted in that case.
