Police and security agencies today went on high alert in 17 districts in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the tomorrow's semi-final match between India and Pakistan in Mohali.
"The confidential report of the intelligence department has sounded a high-alert in 16 districts including Meerut ahead of tomorrow's India-Pakistan match. It has also directed the district magistrates and SPs to be vigilant in these sensitive districts, Brij Lal, special DGP (law and order) said.
"Prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC have been imposed. Special Police Force (SPF) has been asked to guard 129 places. Government security agencies have been put on duty. Alert has been sounded in the NCR region and action will be taken against those who violate the orders", Lal said.
Director general police Gurubachan Lal has also directed all SSPs, DIG and IG to depute additional force on March 30.
