Railway suspends three employees following train blasts

A chief supervisor and two clerks posted at the ticket booking counter at Old Delhi station have been suspended on charges of laxity in duty.

NEW DELHI: A chief supervisor and two clerks of the Railway booking counter at Old Delhi station have been suspended on charges of laxity in duty following the Samjhauta Express train blasts.

"Two clerks have been suspended late last evening on charges of improper maintenance of records of the tickets issued for the Delhi-Attari train," CPRO Northern Railway Rajiv Saxena said.

"The two clerks are Surendra Kumar and Rakesh Maini--both clerks are the general class booking counters," he added.

The General Manager of Northern Railways and the Divisional Railway Manager visited the booking counters after the accident yesterday and suspended the officials after checking the records.

"The chief booking officer was also suspended today till further orders," a Railway official said.

When contacted, D K Sabbarwal, the Chief Booking Supervisor, confirmed to have received a one line order.

"No charges have been mentioned. I have only received a one line order saying that I have been suspended," Sabbarwal said.
