The diplomatic relations between India and Canada have taken a deep tumble after the murder of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was shot dead in British Columbia in June. However, new reports suggest that the entire incident might be a conspiracy by Pakistan.

According to sources and news reports of several agencies, Pakistani spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) orchestrated the killing of Khalistani leader Hardeep Nijjar in Canada to put a major strain in the diplomatic relations between India and Canada.

Hardeep Nijjar was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Canada’s British Columbia while he was inside his car. According to sources cited by India Today, ISI had hired criminals to pressure Nijjar into supporting terrorists and Khalistani gangs in Canada.

Sources have also suggested that after Nijjar’s death, Pakistan is now looking for a replacement of the Khalistani leader and is planning to assemble a group of separatist terrorists in Canada, putting more strain on the relations between India and Canada.

In a rebuke to the allegations levelled by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over the involvement of India in the murder case of Canada-based pro-Khalistan hardliner Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Externail Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said "this is not the government of India's policy".

Jaishankar made the remarks during a conversation at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York after his address at the UN General Assembly on Tuesday.

He said that New Delhi has already informed Ottawa that it is open to looking at specific and relevant information.

Trudeau's allegations have led to a diplomatic spat between India and Canada with New Delhi rejecting Ottawa's claims as "absurd and motivated", followed by tit-for-tat expulsions of senior diplomats and travel advisories.

The tensions between Canada and India remain escalating as the latter has suspended visa services for all Canadians, while the former has issued a new travel advisory for Canadians traveling to India.
