After Indian Army major Nisheet Dogra lost his life in a blizzard in north Sikkim while going for deployment in a tank regiment on Saturday, his father Umesh Chandra Dogra has raised concerns over poor infrastructure at the country's borders. "My son, Major Nisheet Dogra, of 7 Cavalry died today at the China border. There was no electricity for over a week. No generator working. Please improve conditions there," he grieved.

However, he said he was "very proud" of his only son who was commanding an independent tank squadron when the avalanche hit the Tibetan plateau at upper reaches of Lachen. The father appealed to everybody in authority to provide proper infrastructure to the soldiers and jawans posted at the border. "I have no complaints against the Indian Army," he said, but couldn't restrain himself from uttering, "But infrastructure…"

Nisheet, 27, studied from Ryan International School in Nodia and married his childhood friend Nikita last year. After joining the force, Nisheet had made it clear to his family members that his life "is for the Indian Army".
