A massive fire broke out at Puri Railway Station in Odisha on Friday. Puri-Hatia Tapaswini Express caught fire when it was standing at the railway platform, damaging at least four bogies. Four compartments S2, S3, S4, and S5 have been gutted in the fire, completely damaging the S4 bogie.

According to the reports, a thick cloud of smoke started billowing out of the S4 compartment when the express train was being cleaned at the Puri Railway Station. Fire immediately engulfed the other three bogies damaging all the four coaches.

The Railway officials immediately launched efforts to douse the flames and three fire tenders were pressed into action to douse the flame. All the affected coaches were separated from the rest of the train to avoid the spreading of fire to other coaches.

However, no casualty was reported so far in the incident and the cause behind the fire is suspected to be an electric short circuit.
