The Mahagathbandhan on Friday hit out at the ruling alliance as Congress president Rahul Gandhi targeted PM Modi over “politicisation of military operations” for apparent gains in the 2019 Lok Sabha election and promised that the NYAY scheme will be a surgical strike on poverty.

Gandhi, who was addressing his first joint meeting with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav after the announcement of the polls, charged at Modi with his slogans -- “Kuchh nahin sab jhootha hai, Modi ne loota hai” (all promises are fake, Modi has looted people of everything) and “Chowkidar chor hai”.

“What is the purpose of having a bank account if it does not have any money. We will provide Rs 72,000 every year in the bank accounts of all poor people in India and this money will come from the likes of Anil Ambani, Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi and Vijay Mallya not from the country’s middle-class,” Gandhi said in Samastipur.

Earlier, Tejashwi also targeted the saffron alliance with his jibes such as “thaanedaar”, “chacha 420” and “Vish-raj Singh”.
