Once closest aide of West Bengal CM and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, former Union Minister MP Mukul Roy is all set to form a  new political party, reports Zee 24 ghanta.

After applying with Election Commission, now a notification has been issued in a Hindi newspaper announcing the formation  of the new political outfit. The name of the outfit is Nationalist Trinamool Congress Party and Mukul aide Amitabha Majumdar has been named as the President. The head office of the party is located in Dinhata, in North Bengal.

Mukul Roy though has formally refused to divulge whether he is joining this new political outfit and has maintained that he  is still a Rajya Sabha MP from Trinamool Congress. Once the linchpin of the party, Mukul slowly lost favour with West Bengal CM once his name cropped up in the Saradhha scam. Slowly the then general secretary of the party was removed from all the important posts. Many political pundits believe Mukul Roy who was the de facto number 2 in TMC was sidelined to pave way for Mamata Banerjee's cousin young MP Abhisek Banerjee.

There have been several reports in the past of Mukul joining either BJP or Congress though nothing materialised finally. Mukul Roy  forming a new party is unlikely to upset Mamata Banerjee's applecart with elections just six months to go as so far this rebel TMC MP has found very little support from other leaders.
