Muktsar killer gets seven days police remand

Mukesh Kumar was produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Muktsar, which later remanded him to a week's police custody.

MOGA: Mukesh Kumar, who was arrested on Friday for allegedly murdering five children whose decomposed bodies were recovered from an abandoned rice mill here earlier this week, has been remanded to one week of police custody.

Kumar was produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Muktsar, which later remanded him to a week's police custody.

The police also claimed that Kumar had not only committed rape and murder of four children but also led the police to the body of another girl child identified as Sarita (aged about seven).

Police recovered her decomposed body which the accused had murdered in September 2006.

Muktsar police got the postmortem of Sarita conducted at the Guru Gobind Singh Medical college on Saturday. The body was brought back to Muktsar but they failed to trace her parents who are residing in Uttar Pradesh.

Samples for the DNA test were also taken.
