In an exclusive conversation with Zee News Editor-in-Chief Sudhir Chaudhary, Chakraborty said that his "I am a Cobra" dialogue has been misconstrued.
Actor Mithun Chakraborty, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Brigade Parage Ground ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mega rally on Sunday (March 7), mouthed a dialogue from one of his films, and said, "Ami joldhorao noi, bele borao noi... Ami ekta cobra, ek chobol-ei chobi (Don't mistake me for a harmless snake, I am a cobra, can kill people in one bite)".
In an exclusive conversation with Zee News Editor-in-Chief Sudhir Chaudhary, Chakraborty said that his "I am a Cobra" dialogue has been misconstrued.
Chakraborty said he stands by what he said and added, "When TMC supporters speak a similar language, there are no protests but a hue and cry has been created over my dialogue."
When asked how he managed to adjust with different political parties from Left to Right, Chakraborty said there is a difference and if one looks closely, they will find that people's interest is prime for me.

He also talked about how PM Modi welcomed him into the BJP and how the Prime Minister wants to revive West Bengal into "Sonar Bangla". Chakraborty said that PM Modi told him that "the BJP government, if it comes to power, will be for all", adding, "We will give with both hands."
When asked if he might be chief minister of Bengal, Chakraborty laughed and said, "I won't comment on it" and added that he is not the spokesperson of BJP. Chakraborty also said that he doesn't have any such political ambitions.
In a revelation, he also said that he was the first actor to have campaigned for BJP way back in time. "I am the first person to have campaigned for BJP as an actor. I did it when Balashaheb asked me to. You can ask about this to Prakash Javadekar," said Chakraborty.
The National Award-winning actor said he had always wanted to work for the underprivileged, and the saffron camp has given him a platform to fulfill his aspiration. He also asserted that he was proud to be a Bengali.
"I always wanted to do something big in life but had never dreamt of being a part of such a huge rally which is to be addressed by the world's most popular leader Narendra Modi. I wished to work for the poorer sections of our society, and that wish will now be fulfilled," he said.
Chakraborty was welcomed into the fold by BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and state president Dilip Ghosh, among others.
