Attacking Congress and its Rahul Gandhi for promising to change the face of Uttar Pradesh in five years if voted to power, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today termed it as a "desperate attempt to save whatever mass support it was left with" in the state.

Cautioning the electorate against falling prey to promises and allurements of opposition parties, Mayawati asked them to be specially wary of Congress.

"In order to save whatever mass base they are left with, Congress is out to misguide the people that on coming to power it would end unemployment and poverty but these are false and high-sounding statements", Mayawati said at an election meeting here.

"When it could not do so in the 40 years it had its government in the state after independence, how can they do the same in five years"? she said adding it is a fact that maximum people moved out of UP in search of livelihood during the Congress rule whom the party is today referring to as "beggars".

Criticising Congress and Rahul, she said that in order to woo Dalits, "they are repeatedly saying that they have great regards for Kanshi Ram but this hurt BSP men like thorns and it seems that Congress and its Yuvraj are out to humiliate him even after his death".

Referring to Rahul's remark that she (Mayawati) was doing good work before she became the chief minsiter, she said it was "indicative of Congress' pain over the progress of her samaj".

"Congress was happy when I had to run around seeking justice for the poor and downtrodden. But today, I have the masterkey in the form of power of the largest state and get justice for them by issuing directions to officers ", Mayawati said adding Congress "has casteist mentality and cannot stomach this".

Mayawati accused opposition parties of coming together under a political conspiracy and levelling "false allegations" to damage the image of her party ever since it came to power.

She said the BSP government inherited problems of corruption and criminalisation from the previous governments against which she took stern steps.

Lashing out at Congress and BJP on corruption issue, she said in the 31 months of UPA government 62 major scams have taken place involving around Rs 20 lakh crores. During the seven years of BJP government no concrete step was taken to bring back black money from foreign banks, she claimed.

She also mentioned the multi-crore foodgrains scam and police recruitment scams during the previous SP government.

Warning her electorate not to get influenced by the promises in the manifestos of opposition parties as they never get fulfilled, Mayawati said her party believed in work. BSP does not release election manifesto and instead prepares a format of programmes on the basis of available resources.

Mayawati warned that in case SP came to power because of the mistakes of people, it would be 'jungle raj' in the state again, and if Congress formed the government, it would lead to migration as FDI would result in loss of employment and BJP would strengthen communal and feudal powers.

In Mainpuri, Mayawati said charged the Congress with adopting wrong policies for the poor and the unemployed youths during its 40 years of rule in Uttar Pradesh.

"Due to wrong policies of the Congress, people of the state have to migrate to other states for their livelihood and they are not treated with honour in these states. Now Congress is terming them as beggars," she said at an election meeting.

Terming Congress as "power hungry", Mayawati said it has been out of power for the last 22 years in the state and now "playing gimmicks" to grab power by luring people in the name of development.

She said that in last assembly elections she had committed some mistakes by giving tickets to wrong people, but they were later sacked and denied tickets this time.

Mayawati said "faulty" economic policies of the Congress had resulted in price rise due to which common man were worst affected.

Attacking BJP, she said termed it as a communal party and alleged that it was dividing the nation by playing communal card.
