Man arrested for beating wife to death in Azamgarh

One person was arrested for allegedly beating his wife to death in Nati village, police said today.

Surema, 26, died soon after her husband Triveni beat her brutally last night, they said.

The victim's family members lodged an FIR in this connection and alleged that she was killed as a demand for dowry by Triveni was not met.

However, the accused has maintained that he killed his wife in a fit of rage after they had an altercation over the issue of cooking, the police said.

The case is being investigated, they added.
