Ahead of the Maharashtra assembly polls, braving heavy rainfall in Satara, Nationalist Congress Party chief (NCP) Sharad Pawar on Friday addressed a public rally in a bid to woo voters.
The heavy rainfall couldn't dampen the spirit of the NCP supremo as he continued to address the large gathering of people at the rally.
"The rain god has blessed the NCP for the October 21 election. And with the blessings of the rain god, Satara district will create a miracle in Maharashtra. That miracle will begin from October 21," Pawar said at the rally.
He stated that he picked the wrong candidate for the Satara constituency in the recently concluded Lok Sabha Elections but was hopeful that people in Satara would 'rectify that mistake' in upcoming by-poll to the Satara seat.
"I picked the wrong candidate during the Lok Sabha Elections. I openly accept it. But I am happy that people of Satara are waiting for October 21 to rectify that mistake," he said.
In 2019 parliamentary elections, the NCP fielded Udayanraje Bhosale from Satara and won the seat, however, he later resigned as an MP to join the BJP.
NCP is contesting the Maharasthra Assembly elections in alliance with the Congress. The Congress has fielded 147 candidates and its ally Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) 121.
The state of Maharashtra is heading for the polls on October 21. The election will be held for 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra along with Haryana. The counting of votes for both the states will take place on October 24.
