National Security Adviser Ajit Doval on Wednesday, after visiting the violence-hit areas in northeast Delhi, assured that the situation is well under control and that the law enforcement agencies are doing their jobs.

"Situation is totally under control. People are satisfied. I have confidence in law enforcement agencies. Police is doing its work," the NSA told reporters who were present in the Maujpur area.

He added that most people have a sense of unity among them but a few criminals are spreading the violence.

"People have a sense of unity among them, there is no enmity. A few criminals do things like this (spread violence), people are trying to isolate them. Police is here & doing its work. We're here as per the orders of HM & PM. Inshallah yahan par bilkul aman hoga," NSA Doval said.

"My message is that everyone who loves their country - also loves their society, their neighbour. Everyone should live with love and harmony with others. People should try to resolve each other's problems and not increase them," Doval added.

Earlier, Doval had attended a meeting in the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Northeast. After that, he rushed to the riot-hit Maujpur to take stock of the situation there.

The NSA also interacted with the local residents of Northeast Delhi. In a clip captured by news agency ANI, Doval can be heard telling a woman resident of the area, "Prem ki bhaavna bana kar rakhiye. Hamara ek desh hai, hum sab ko milkar rehna hai. Desh ko mil kar aage badhana hai (Keep the feeling of love alive in your heart. All of us belong in one country, we need to live together. We take to take the country forward together)."

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval had also on late Tuesday night visited the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police in Delhi’s Seelampur to take stock of the situation. He has been tasked with containing the violence, and will apprise the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) of the situation in Delhi.

The situation in the North-East district of Delhi was in control on the morning of February 26. Heavy deployment of security forces was witnessed in affected areas. Drones were also deployed in order to monitor the situation in these areas. The region saw brutal violence since February 23, claiming at least 20 lives.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) informed that entry and exit gates at all metro stations have been opened.

Violence erupted in North-East Delhi after clashes broke out between anti-CAA and pro CAA groups. Several shops have been set ablaze and cases of stone-pelting and arson have been witnessed.

The clashes fanned out to Chand Bagh, Mustafabad, Brijpuri, Shiv Vihar and Noor Ilahi until Tuesday in which at least 20 persons, including a police head constable, died and over 200 got injured.
