Not only students appearing for board exams, but BJP's prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi might also be facing exam blues this time as he has conceded that like them he is also taking an examination, albeit in the form of Lok Sabha elections.
The students appearing for class X and XII exams in Gujarat, starting from tomorrow, and their parents are receiving a surprise call on their mobile phones from state Chief Minister Modi giving them best wishes.
The stress related to exams and problems caused by it are common every year when Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) conducts annual examinations of Class X and XII, but BJP has turned it into another campaign tool ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
"Student friends, Narendra Modi here. Like you, I am also giving an exam. But like me you also should not worry about exams," Modi says in the pre-recorded message in the calls coming to students and parents giving them advice not to be affected by exam blues.
"Exams are natural in the life and 'our' hard work will give good results. My good wishes are with you that you will pass with flying colours in class X and XII and secure excellent rank. You, your teachers and your parents have done labour and it will give you a great result. Wishes again," Modi's message, which has astonished many, said.
"I was surprised to receive a call from Modi for my son who will appear for Class 10th exams. The touching part was that he said that like our students he is also taking exams," a parent who received one such call said.
For the chief minister who won three consecutive state elections, the aim for the top job of the country has not been any short of a full-fledged examination as he had to get acceptance from his party and from the coalition NDA.
Though he has managed to get a nomination from his party and acceptance from NDA, the final and the most difficult test lies ahead - to get the stamp of approval from the people of the country to become Prime Minister.
"These are message for best wishes. It is difficult to tell what is in his (Modi's) mind but election, which is an occasion in democracy, is also an exam," BJP spokesperson I K Jadeja said, adding that Modi gives best wishes to students every year.
Meanwhile, the Congress has termed Modi's message as a political campaign.
"This is an outright political campaign. Rather than giving good wishes, CM should give good governance," Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi told PTI.
"Students are asking questions regarding fee-hike, poor infrastructure, monopoly of private tuition classes but CM has kept mum on the issue," Doshi said.
"Students also want assurance from him (Modi) to provide better higher education in reasonable fees, does he have any answers?" he asked.
"We will raise this issue of back door campaigning very soon," he said further.
