Fishermen protest in Rameshwaram enters second day

The vassal (gate) of the Infant Jesus Church at Thangachimadam in Rameshwaram has become the focal point of the protest by fisherfolk which entered the second day on Wednesday, against the killing of Britjo. Brijto was allegedly killed by the Sri Lankan Navy.

The family member of the deceased 21-year-old along with hundreds of others refused to take the body and continued their protest seeking a permanent solution. 

The protestors said they would end the protest only if a representative of the ministry assures them of a permanent solution to the problem besides securing the release of all the fishermen and boat in the Sri Lanka’s custody.
